Megan Weall
Veterinary Nursing - Course Manager and Lecturer
What inspired you to peruse a career in your field?
Since a young age, I have been interested in STEM fields. My auntie was a huge role model for me working as a cardiac nurse. I decided to combine my two interests animals and nursing, which led me to my career in veterinary nursing.
What do you enjoy most about your role at the College?
I find it really rewarding to prepare students for their placement in a veterinary practice. I particularly enjoy running practice sessions looking at both clinical and communication skills needed for placement.
What is your favourite animal to work with and why?
I love working with large breed dogs like your Newfoundland’s or German Shepherds.
Areas of interest and expertise
I am interested in surgical nursing, consult nursing and coaching.
What advice would you give to students looking to succeed in your subject area?
My advice is to get a variety of work experience! Visit as many practices as you can to see what area you enjoy such as small animal, exotic, livestock and equine.
Anything else?
I have a BSc Top Up in Veterinary Nursing, and I am a returning Askham Bryan student.
