Veterinary Nursing - Course Manager and Lecturer

What inspired you to pursue a career in your field?

I love supporting people to care for their animals. I also enjoy the problem-solving aspects of veterinary work, every case is different and requires a different approach.

What do you enjoy most about your role at the college?

Helping students realise their potential and grow in confidence is what I enjoy most about my role as a lecturer.

What is your favourite animal to work with?

I love to work with dogs!

Areas of Interest and Expertise

I enjoy both small animal and equine veterinary work, I even completed my dissertation on lameness in dairy cows in Wales! I enjoy working up medicine cases, endocrinology (hormones) are my favourite.

What advice would you give to students looking to succeed in your subject area?

My advice is to get plenty of work experience to give you a good idea that the profession is something for you. Be passionate in your studies, and ask questions.

What book, movie, artist or podcast do you always recommend?

I recommend the book ‘The untethered soul’. It provides advice for a positive outlook.
I also recommend the podcast ‘TED talks’. It always provides inspiration.

If your students had to describe you in three words, what would they say?

Passionate, Approachable, Open-minded.

I am currently undertaking a PGCE to gain a further teaching qualification.
