Carole Taylor, a teacher of year 2 pupils at St Wilfrid’s Roman David identifies a saplingCatholic School, had a bit of a problem when the school received 30 saplings as part of a promotion run by Sainsbury’s and The Woodland Trust as St Wilfrid’s had no space for the young trees.
Carole contacted David Butterfield Lecturer in arboriculture at Askham Bryan College with her problem. The children had worked so hard to collect the vouchers it was great news when the College provided both the space and expertise to plant the Rowan, Birch and Cherry trees.
It is hoped that the partnership will grow further as students from the College are now also helping the children to create an allotment at their school. The team at Askham Bryan with St Wilfrid's pupils
