City & Guilds NPTC Level 3 Award in Aerial Cutting of Trees with a Chainsaw Using Free-Fall Techniques (CS39)
This course is designed to follow on as a natural progression from the tree climbing and aerial rescue courses offered by City & Guilds NPTC. The course will prepare candidates to undertake assessment in the Level 3 Award in Aerial Cutting of Trees with a Chainsaw Using Free-Fall Techniques.

This qualification is for individuals who use chainsaws as part of their work in arboriculture, forestry or other industries. It will provide them with the knowledge, understanding and skills required to use chainsaws from a rope and harness safely and to industry standards in line with current legislation.
Course Contents
To pass this qualification candidates need to successfully achieve all the following assessment activities:
Entry Requirements
Learners must be physically fit and not suffering from vertigo or similar conditions or on medication that could affect their safety. The minimum age limit for Candidates taking Certificates of Competence is 16 years. There is no upper age limit.
Please note that to undertake this unit candidates must have passed units 30, 31 & 38 (Award in Chainsaw Maintenance and Cross-cutting, Award in Felling & Processing Trees up to 380mm and Award in Accessing a Tree Using a Rope & Harness and Award in Aerial Tree Rescue Operations)
Other Important information
City and Guilds will no longer produce physical skills card upon a successful completion of this accreditation. Candidates can expect to receive a digital skills card which they will be able to access through their online portal. The training centre will be unable to send or provide this upon completion. All candidates will also need to provide ID on the day of their assessment as proof of identification. Failure to do this may result in your assessment being suspended.
